Excellent for stabilizing sandy soils under oaks and pines, one of its favorite habitats is the woodland edge along beaches and dunes, yet it is fairly adaptable and thrives in average garden soil as well. The seeds are relished by gamebirds such as Ruffed Grouse and Wild Turkey.  False Lily of the Valley, or Starry False Solomon's Seal are other common names.
