A cheery presence throughout the season Ox Eye Sunflower produces a profusion of bright yellow flowers from early to late summer. An excellent choice for tough soils, it's perfectly at home in heavy clay, and will thrive in any setting in full sun with reasonably fertile soil. Heliopsis helianthoides is not a true sunflower, but a member of the Aster family. Very easy to grow and fast to maturity this short-lived perennial self-seeds readily on open soil. Other common names for this prolific bloomer include Early Sunflower, Sweet Smooth Oxeye and False Sunflower.
