Native to the northeastern U.S. and Appalachian Mountains, the adaptable Hayscented Fern creeps by rhizomes to form a solid groundcover that few weeds can penetrate. Excellent for naturalizing along woodland edges that receive partial sun. Lovely light green fronds stay low, seldom exceeding 18 inches in height. Does best in well-drained soils, and thrives in well-drained rocky and sandy soils. Like most ferns, it is rabbit resistant.
