The sturdy stalks of Lespedeza capitata make excellent perches for the birds, and the seeds are retained late into the winter to serve as an important food supply. The inconspicuous white flowers emerge in summer on three to five foot tall stems, but the main attraction is the bronze seed heads that provide autumn and winter color. Round Headed Bush Clover prefers dry, well-drained soils, and does particularly well on dry, sandy soils. Grows in full sun to very light shade.
