We’re glad to share these valuable resources to help increase awareness of native plants and their many benefits:


 Wild Ones – Wild Ones is a non-profit membership organization promoting environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities.

SOS Save our Songbirds – A team of major bird and nature conservation organizations launched the Save Our Songbirds program in March 2023 to raise awareness of the dire situtuation of our bird populations, and to spur action at home. SOS provides bird conservation information tailored to Wisconsin, with hands-on events and discounts designed to encourage people make changes in their own homes and neighborhoods that support bird conservation.

Homegrown National Park - Get on the Map! – The largest cooperative conservation project ever conceived, Homegrown National Park is a collective effort of individual homeowners, property owners, land managers, farmers, and anyone with some soil to plant in … to start creating habitat by planting native plants.

Illinois Wildflowers – The Illinois Wildflower website is an excellent native plant resource, featuring detailed descriptions, information, and photographs of Illinois’ indigenous flora.

Minnesota Wildflowers – A valuable state-based resource, Minnesota Wildflowers is a non-profit organization with a mission to educate Minnesotans on native plants, raise awareness on the threat of invasive species, and inspire people to explore and preserve the natural heritage of Minnesota.

The Prairie Enthusiasts – The Prairie Enthusiasts is a private membership organization committed to protecting and managing native prairies and savannas in the Upper Midwest.

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center – Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is dedicated to inspiring the conservation of native plants through their gardens, research, education, consulting and outreach programs. Check out their website for a huge database of North American native plants.

The Xerces Society – For nearly 50 years, the Xerces Society has been raising awareness about the importance and plights of invertebrates in forests, prairies, deserts, and oceans. An international nonprofit organization, their key program areas focus on pollinator conservation, endangered species conservation, and reducing pesticide use and impacts.

Audubon – The National Audubon Society protects birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, throughout the Americas using science, advocacy, education, and conservation. Visit the excellent “plants for birds” pages of their website.

BONAP – The Biota of North America Program website incorporates nearly a half-century of botanical research efforts into an online database, including the North American Plant Atlas, which maps the distribution of each plant species.

The USDA Plants Database – The USDA PLANTS Database provides standardized information about the vascular plants of the U.S. and its territories.

Invasive Plant Atlas of the US – A collaborative project and resource, dedicated to assisting with the identification, early detection, prevention, and management of invasive plants.

North American Native Plant Society – NANPS is a volunteer-operated registered charitable organization concerned with preserving native plant habitat in wild areas and restoring indigenous flora to developed areas. Their website inspires appreciation of native plants with an aim to restoring healthy ecosystems across the continent.
