Pale Indian Plantain (Arnoglossum atriplicifolium) has soft, tactile foliage with a deep blue-green color that looks great all season long, right up to the frost. Growing up to eight feet tall, it towers in the prairie garden, and seldom flops. Large white flower torches are beautiful as well, attracting an array of pollinators. Growing best in medium to moist soils - in full sun or light shade - Pale Indian Plantain is aggressive and may not be suitable for small landscape plantings.
Native plants can be grown outside of their native range in the appropriate growing conditions. This map shows the native range, as well as the introduced range, of this species.
