Wild Stonecrop forms a thick mat of succulent light-green leaves, covered with star-like white flowers in late spring and early summer. Less than a foot tall, it creeps rapidly to form a splendid groundcover in partial shade. Easily grown in medium well-drained soils this native sedum tolerates part shade and moist soils better than most other sedums. Sedum ternatum is native to the Eastern and East-Central U.S. Other common names include Whorled Stonecrop or Three-Leaved Stonecrop.
Native plants can be grown outside of their native range in the appropriate growing conditions. This map shows the native range, as well as the introduced range, of this species.
