Whispy, bright green arching leaf blades give this sedge a delicate look. Unique scaly flower spikes emerge in late spring. The scales may be green, brown or tan but each has a white margin. This is an excellent sedge for creating a turf-like groundcover in difficult dry shaded areas.

White Tinged Sedge grows in dense mounded tufts and spreads slowly by underground rhizomes, gradually forming colonies, but it is not overly aggressive. Found mainly in dry rocky or sandy, upland forests, Carex albicans is drought tolerant, versatile and will perform well in a variety of situations in the garden and landscape.
