Rain Garden Plants

rain garden full of asters

Rain gardens serve an important ecological niche in the tended landscape. They are designed to capture excess rain water that flows from the solid surfaces of roofs, driveways and parking areas. The plants' roots absorb and filter the excess water that would otherwise go straight into lakes, rivers, or municipal systems. These tough plants are able to survive short-term flooding, as well as periods of temporary drought.
