Plants for Rain Gardens

rain garden full of asters

Rain gardens serve an important ecological niche in the tended landscape. They are designed to capture excess rain water that flows from the solid surfaces of roofs, driveways and parking areas. The plants' roots filter & absorb the pollutants & excess water that would otherwise go straight into lakes, rivers, or municipal water systems. These tough plants are able to survive short-term flooding, as well as periods of temporary drought.
