Red Baneberry (Actaea rubra) This open woodland plant is a bushy 1' – 3' tall, bearing rounded clusters of small white flowers with numerous stamens. After flowering, green berries are produced. In mid to late summer, the berries turn bright red. Enjoys sun, partial or shade in well-drained moist soil.

Black Cohosh (Actaea racemosa) Midsummer flowers wave above deeply cut foliage. Black Cohosh makes an excellent background border plant in the landscape. Prefers a rich, moist, soil. 3' - 6' tall with compound, toothed leaves it does best in the shade with only an hour or two of sunlight per day.

Rue Anemone (Anemonella thalictroides) is an early blooming woodland perennial (April – May) about 9” high. The delicate spring flower is easily cultivated in wildflower gardens. Rue Anemone tolerates full shade and prefers sandy-humusy soils. The plant becomes dormant in summer.

Yellow Trout Lily (Erythronium americanum) This spring ephemeral is a colony-forming perennial with maroon-mottled leaves and a slender stalk bearing a single, nodding, yellow flower. An attractive seasonal ground cover, Trout lily must receive ample sun in early spring. Cover with leafy material over winter and leave it through spring. Height 6"-1'. Blooms early spring. Partial shade, moist soil.

Turk's Cap Lily (Lilium superbum) This spectacular native Lily blooms July – Sept. The tall flowering stem bears several nodding, orange flowers, with strongly recurved petals. The preference is full or partial sun, rich loamy soil, and moist conditions. 1 - 12 flowers hang downward from stalks 4" - 8" high that spread upward and outward.
