We specialize in creating special prairie wildflower and native grass seed mixes to meet your individual needs and site requirements. We use only the highest quality seeds and blend them in carefully measured proportions to ensure the best perennial wildflower seed mixes available.
We also offer a wide variety of pre-designed “tried and true” seed mixes for a wide variety of growing conditions and situations. We suggest that before you fill out the Custom Seed Mix Request Form, please check out the many mixes that we offer here on our website (also listed in our catalog). Experience has shown that most people find exactly what they need by selecting the appropriate mix from these offerings.
Please note that the native plants that typically grow on rich soils and clay soils tend to be taller than average, usually a minimum of two to three feet. Some can grow to be fifteen feet! If you have a rich soil or a heavy soil, it is difficult to design a good seed mix that is less than three feet tall.
On dry sandy or rocky soils, plants tend to naturally grow shorter. However, for a truly diverse mix of flowers and grasses, please allow us to include plants up to three feet. Of course, we can create a mix that is only about two feet for a dry soil type, but it will lack some of the showiest and most beautiful prairie flowers and grasses.
In general, we do not recommend seed mixes shorter than two to three feet. They will lack the plant diversity that makes the prairie meadow (such) a fascinating and ecologically healthy plant community.
