Does your soil turn from gumbo soup in spring to a brick facroty in summer? If so, try growing our "CLAY BUSTERS" in your worst clay soil! These tough plants can handle conditions that make other plants shrivel up and die. Results from our test plantings have shown which plants will thrive on difficult clay soils. The survivors are our "CLAY BUSTERS!" Fall seeding on clay soils is strongly recommended. Seed germination and seedling survival is typically higher with fall plants on clay. Spring plants benefit from mulching with clean straw and regular watering during the first two months after seeding.
