What is wet stratification?
Increases the germination rate of many flower seeds by mimicking cold, damp,
winter conditions.
The Wet Stratification Process
- Seeds are mixed with 2-3 times their volume of damp (not wet) sawdust or sand.
- Most seeds: Refrigerator storage for 4-8 weeks prior to planting.
- Legumes: Store seeds in a refrigerator for 10-15 days.
- White False Indigo and
Cream False Indigo: Legumes that need 2 months of wet stratification.
