High School social worker David Timmer organized a Memorial Garden at the Oak Creek High School honoring the victims of the August 5 Sikh temple shooting in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. The memorial garden of prairie plants represents strength in diversity and the hope that as the plants grow, the community’s understanding of different cultures will grow, too.
David Timmer contacted Prairie Nursery to design and oversee installation of the native plant garden in front of the Oak Creek High School. On Saturday, September 29, community members came together to plant the garden. For Pardeep Kaleka, whose father was killed in the August 5 shooting, it represents a new found collaborative spirit in Oak Creek.
